Coronavirus, are we getting it wrong?

Following recent updates on the media, the outbreak of coronavirus has caused many to panic. Sadly, some do not know what it is and the proper measures to protect themselves.

The Coronaviruses -(encoded CoVid -19) are a group of viruses/disease ranging from common cold to MERS CoV and SARS CoV which is spread from animals to humans.

MERS CoV is the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus which is a transmittable, fatal disease which can be contracted by contact with an infected human/animal. The SARS CoV is Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus which is also contagious and deadly but has a different mode of transmission – through the air. Suprisingly enough, it can be transmitted through coughing, sneezing, and just talking.

These coronaviruses possess neglectibly fatal symptoms. Some of these symptoms include:

*Difficulties in breathing.

* Fever.

* Prevalent cough.

Severe cases can cause pneumonia, kidney failure and even death.

Taking preventive measures is a smart way to stay safe in this sudden epidemic. Some of these ways include:

*Avoid close contact with anyone showing respiratory disease symptoms.

*Use of hand sanitizers.

*Covering mouth and nose when sneezing and coughing respectively.

*Thoroughly cooking of purchased foods. E.g meats.

Stay safe!
