The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has postponed the proposed upcoming May/June WASSCE(for school candidates) exam due to the widespread of COVID-19 and it’s effect Nationwide and globally.
This update was made known by WAEC’s Head of national office who said in a statement which reads in part:
“The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in Nigeria, nay, the West African sub-region, has decided to put on hold the conduct of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination“.
The about states vividly the reason why the WAEC is taking that step. The Federal Government’s measures being implemented for the control of the virus is a factor also. Some of the measures included closing schools in a number of states.
